Business Spotlight: The Weathered Frame Photography
Small businesses and the people who own and work in them are the heart of our Edmonds community. To keep our downtown thriving, it’s more critical than ever that we think local first.
In this new series, we will be highlighting independently-owned businesses, and learn more about the folks that make them run!
Meet Leslie Amman from The Weathered Frame Photography
What is your favorite part of your business?
I really enjoy working with my clients to customize and create portraits that will best represent them for personal images as well as for business marketing.
Why did you start your business?
I realized how few photos I have of myself and my family, especially of those that have passed on. Those moments are lost forever. I also had never had a positive experience being photographed, it was either rushed or the photographer simply didn’t take the time to help me look my best with lighting, help with poses, etc. I want to offer not only beautiful portraits that will last for generations, I also believe that a positive experience in my studio will bring out the joy in my client’s eyes that will in turn capture their true personality in portraits that they can be proud of.
Why did you choose Edmonds for your business?
I spend the majority of my time in Edmonds. I cherish our community of local small businesses and a safe and lively place to raise our family.
What is unique about your business?
For each Portrait session, I offer professional hair and makeup on the day of the shoot, a comfortable space to create, and an array of gowns and accessories to choose from to glamorize their look—or clients are welcome to bring their own outfits or heirlooms that are special to them! I have state of the art lighting, backdrops, and all that is needed for the best in quality portraits. For my Headshots and Branding clients, they are able to feel relaxed and be captured in an approachable and friendly way, best representing their professional appearance. This, in turn, helps to create better connections with their own clientelle.
Why should people do business with you?
I am dedicated to my craft and will do everything I can to make sure that the quality of my work is presented in the best way possible. I take time with my clients to get to know what they would like to see in their images. I am consistently learning new tricks of the trade and applying them to my business.
What are you currently doing differently during this time?
Both myself and my Hair and Makeup Artist are fully vaccinated and up to date with boosters. Masks are worn throughout the Salon and Studio until it is your time to be photographed. The only exception is during tea or snack time with social distancing in mind.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself!
Besides taking my camera everywhere with me, I also love to travel to small towns and visit the antique and thrift shops. There I find treasures to refinish or repurpose in my home workshop. I also love spending time with my family and friends and going out to our local shops and restaurants for Happy Hours. I lived in Mexico throughout my 20’s and worked in a Scuba Dive shop where we took tourists out to explore the underwater beauty of the Caribbean Ocean every day. It was an incredible experience.
Is there anything else you’d like to tell us about your business?
I truly look forward to creating beautiful photographs with you. If this has been on your mind to capture yourself or a loved one in beautiful portraits or to update your business profiles, don’t wait. Time moves forward so fast and if we don’t make it a priority, it escapes our busy minds. I wish that I had the opportunity to photograph my Grandma, my Mom, and our family together but time got away. Let’s get you on the calender now to make this happen for you or your loved one! Gift certificates available for purchase!
