Celebrate Mom in Edmonds
Figuring out the perfect way to celebrate the moms in your life can stump even the most clever gift-givers among us. But ask any mom what she’d cherish and she may tell you what she wants most is the gift of time with her children – particularly if said children are adults or nearly-grown.
This year we gathered up ideas for ways to spend time creating memories with your mom, all right here in downtown Edmonds!
Take mom to an event
Whether she enjoys theatre, music, or retro films, there are many options to experience the arts with your mom here in Edmonds.
The Edmonds Center for the Arts has a variety of upcoming shows this spring, perfect for every budget. From jazz music (including the FREE Jazz Connection Festival May 18th), a screening of The Graduate, to a concert honoring Ray Charles–there is something for everyone!
If your mom enjoys wine, consider attending Decant Edmonds on May 25th. Sponsored by the Edmonds Chamber of Commerce and taking place at the ECA, Decant lets you sample wines and spirits from more than 15 local makers along with discounts on purchases.

Plan a trip together
When it comes to creating lasting memories, travel tops everyone’s list. If you aren’t sure which destination to choose, The Savvy Traveler offers information about several exotic and exciting locations across the globe.
They host seminars conducted by independent tour guides to provide detailed information and answer questions about planning a trip. Upcoming seminars include Costa Rica, Panama, and Nicaragua; Trekking in Ireland and Scotland; Gorilla Trekking in Uganda and Rwanda; and Hiking the Alps.
Once you’ve settled on a destination, the expert staff can help you find the exact products you’ll need to make your trip a comfortable experience!

Get creative with mom
Did you know that sharing creative activities with people you love improves your relationship? When you share time in a creative endeavor, friendship bonds are enhanced and you reduce stress. Plus, you both end up with a memento that carries meaning, too.
If that sounds like a great idea, consider taking mom to a place like Glazed & Amazed. You can drop in to paint pottery during normal business hours or you can choose to attend a workshop with a special focus, like glass fusing or canvas painting. Their calendar of upcoming classes is online at https://glazedandamazed.com/classes/.
Appreciate nature together
Spring and summer in the northwest are the best seasons to tour the Puget Sound to marvel at the incredible bounty of sea life at our doorstep. One of the best whale watching tour companies in the Puget Sound is right down at the Edmonds Marina.
Family-owned Puget Sound Express has several whale watching excursions to choose from, including half-day trips as well as longer multi-day cruises. Every adventure takes place on a comfortable vessel with indoor seating and outdoor decks along with a café serving up their famous blueberry buckle.
And whales aren’t the only sea life you’ll encounter. You can expect to see everything from seals, birds, otters, sea lions – even dolphins and porpoises!
Gift certificates can be purchased online on their secure website at https://www.pugetsoundexpress.com/gift-certificates/.
Celebrate early, too!
Want to spend more than just one day celebrating mom? Here are three great ideas for you.
Want to support local business, enjoy special discounts, shop for mom AND possibly win something for her (or yourself)? Mark your calendar to attend the annual Edmonds Localvore shopping event on Saturday, May 4th.
It’s worth your time to visit all 12 participating locations with your event passport to be entered to win a gift basket worth $600! A total of four baskets are up for grabs this year. Details can be found on Facebook, click here!
Once again this year kids are invited to create a fantastic gift for mom at the annual Edmonds in Bloom Kids Plant for Mom’s Day taking place Saturday, May 11th at the Farmers Market. A $10 donation to cover the cost of materials is what they request and you walk away with a special potted plant, ready to gift.
If your mom loves handmade crafts and food from local artisans, you must check out the second annual Edmonds Spring Fest taking place at Civic Field also on Saturday, May 11th. An offshoot of the popular Seattle Urban Craft Uprising, Edmonds Spring Fest will bring together 100+ different craft and food vendors in a one-day event.
However you decide to celebrate, we wish all the moms a Happy Mother’s Day! To see all of the great restaurants, shops and upcoming activities in downtown Edmonds, make sure to visit edmondsdowntown.org.
