Our 2024 Guide to Celebrating Mom in Downtown Edmonds
In a city full of women-owned shops and businesses, we know how to throw down for mom—not just on Mother’s Day, but all the time. Still, Mother’s Day gives us the opportunity to spend some intentional time with the special women in our lives—the women who raised us, the women who praise us, and the women who carry a really big load.
Downtown Edmonds is well-positioned to celebrate all the moms, not only because we offer beautiful, calming views that are a daily treat on their own, but also because we’ve pulled out all the stops to give mom a super special day. Keep reading to come up with your plan to celebrate your favorite moms.
For The Art-Lover
At The Paper Feather, owner Jen Cullin hand paints each beautiful greeting card. Give mom something extra special created by a local artist. Consider, too, a stroll through the new Young Gallery on Main and check out their beautiful Japanese art.
You can also make a day of loving on art with your motherly figures! The Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend (May 11) brings Spring Fest back to Frances Anderson Center. Brought to town by Urban Craft Uprising, this event can be a springboard to cruising around your favorite downtown shops. Learn about a local crafter, stroll up and down Main, sit down for a long lunch, and peruse the latest installment at Graphite. While you’re out, stop into one of our many downtown galleries and artists’ studios.
For The Coffee Snob
Who’s been to the cutest new coffee shop in town? This is the perfect time to take mom on a coffee date. On the corner of Main Street Commons, Stillhouse Coffee serves pastries from The Cottage, Community Bakery, and pulls a delicious shot from its house-roasted beans. Got places to be and people to see? Walk up to their to-go window and take your coffee with you. The Saturday Market is back and buzzing right down the block!
(Same goes for Il Viale if you’re coming from the other direction. Plus, you’ll love sipping al fresco on their European-inspired terrace.)
For The Fashionista
Want to have a dress-up party with your mom or your mini? Check out the dreamy Downtown Edmonds collaboration between Little Bipsy and The Social Chain Co. Enjoy a permanent jewelry pop-up, 15% off in-store purchases, and surprises throughout the day! We also have a long list of shops and boutiques where mom can find a new ‘fit that is perfectly and uniquely her. Find the list here, and start planning your shopping cardio.
P.S. Don’t forget to help her accessorize. Jewels abound downtown. Pick your pearly (or diamond-y etc.) piece here.
For The Vintage-Collector
Camp Vintage just celebrated its first birthday on 4th and is brimming with conversation pieces you and mom will love to discuss. You two more into records? Head over to Musicology Co on 5th to sift through new and vintage vinyl. Compare your favorite artists, giggle at their musician-driven cards, and spin a few before you make your final decisions.
For The Green Thumb
Many families enjoy a tradition of planting their gardens together over Mother’s Day weekend. Check out Ace Hardware for seeds, starters, equipment, and post-planting beverages. If you want to add some flavor for your resident pollinators, pop by Bench & Board while you’re out. Owner Jill has a selection of sweet flora for you and yours, plus lots of giftables and an artist’s gallery in the back of the store.
If you’re intrigued by the idea of thinking outside the vase or hand-tied bouquet for mom this year, head over to FIELD right up Main for their Mother’s Day DIY kit. This floral design bundle includes a canvas tote with leather handles and pockets, a bucket of spring blooms with 20+ stems, a winnie compote vase, a 2” metal floral frog, putty (to attach the frog to the vase), floral shears, linen ribbon, and flower food. This is a great option to get the kiddos involved!
For The Foodie
Follow us and your favorite downtown restaurants to stay in the know about who’s hosting a Mother’s Day brunch or just so happens to have brunch available on Mother’s Day. The Rusty Pelican Cafe is always a tasty and lively option right in the thick of the market, making it an ideal spot to celebrate your favorite motherly figures and people-watch.

For The Traveler
Support her dreams of sipping under the Tuscan sun, exploring ancient Greek ruins, or buzzing around busy streets on the back of a moped through a combination of Edmonds Bookshop and Rick Steves’ Europe. And outfit her for her trip at Saetia.
For The Athlete
Moms make up the majority of clients at many downtown athletic studios, including Barre3, BodyWorks Pilates, and Twist Yoga. Keep your eyes peeled for mom-specific specials or, if you’re a mom prioritizing herself (you go, girl!), take the time to try on a new studio.
And, don’t forget about your post-workout and general body recovery. Body Motion Physical Therapy, Slate Salon + Spa, Sauna Hut, and Sheryl Fendall Massage Therapy are ready to work out all her stress, lean out her muscles, and sweat out toxins.
For The Queen of Cozy
Get her something soft and lush to wrap around her at Rogue or Soaring Heart. Treasures & Teas will keep her warm from the inside out! HouseWares and KSD Home will make her nest beautiful.
For The Mom Who Has It All
If you’re still stumped about how you want to spoil Mom, know she will never deny spa and beauty treatments. Bellissimo Beauty Bar, Milltown Nails & Skin Care, one of the many fabulous service providers at Mosaic Salon Group, or Torres Aesthetics gift cards are always welcome. For the mommy and me types, check out Alley Bell Music for the sweetest classes full of beautiful noise or Glazed & Amazed for quality time with a side of painted pottery.
Also, time just for her. On this day, time can go so far.
