Love is in the Air in Edmonds

Whether you love it (or don’t), Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. So we’ve rounded up some of the events and happenings around town. And even if going out on this particular day isn’t your thing, we’ve got several tips on how locals like to do date night in Edmonds.

“Some of my favorite spots to do date night downtown include stopping by Kelnero for a great cocktail, doing a wine tasting at Arista Wine Cellars, or enjoying a special meal at Salt and Iron,” says Shealan Arnesen of Edmonds.

Kelnero, who will be celebrating their one year anniversary on February 13th, plans to have several special cocktails on the menu for you to sip with your sweetie this Valentine’s Day.

Salt & Iron is doing a special 6-course prix fixe meal for couples who want to really indulge. The menu includes fresh oysters, squid ink risotto, prime onglet Oscar, and a special dessert. Reservations are required and filling up fast.

If grabbing food to-go is on the agenda, S&I’s sister restaurant The Market just up the street has a Valentine’s Day special of a complimentary dozen roses with the purchase of two lobster rolls and a bottle of wine of your choice. They also have a great selection of fresh seafood that you can have cooked to order or take home to prepare yourself.

“When I have a special date or occasion on the calendar, I love to do my date-prep by stopping by Rogue for a new outfit or accessory. And on the beauty side of things, a facial or blowout at Slate is another fun way to treat myself so I look and feel my best,” shares Heather Damron.

Rogue always has a fantastic selection of clothes, jewelry, and accessories to add that special touch. Owner Kimberly Koenig and her staff are happy to offer suggestions and help you find exactly what you are looking for.

Slate is a full-service spa and salon offering every kind of beauty service you could desire – from hair, skin, nails, waxing, eyelash extension, and massage. Hint – gift certificates make a great Valentine’s Day gift, too.

“We love doing date nights by seeing shows, going to concerts, or going out dancing to live music plus, dinner before or drinks after. We are lucky to have so many options around town!” Sorine Morgan told us.

On February 14th, Edmonds Center for the Arts is featuring Rog’s Big 70th Valentine’s Birthday Bash with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, Roger Fisher and friends. The Driftwood Players open their run of Pride and Prejudice on Valentine’s Day and the show goes through March 1st. And for spur of the moment plans, Engel’s Pub will have live music from 9pm to 11pm with classic dance/rock band, New Venture on Valentine’s Day.

If whisking your honey off to a tropical vacation isn’t part of your romantic weekend, you can still enjoy a bit of the tropics by visiting Calypso. They will be featuring their full menu along with some chef specials to enjoy along with a tasty tropical bevvie (and they have some great non-alcoholic mocktails, too). Note – they aren’t accepting reservations that evening, just walk-in service.

For those who are spending Valentine’s Day without a special someone, don’t feel like you need to hide out at home, Daphnes Bar will welcome you with open arms. In fact, they have a tradition of not allowing couples in on Valentine’s Day. This year will be the 13th year of their “No Couples Allowed” Valentine’s Day. And yes, that rule is enforced (we’ve even heard of some couples trying to sneak in and pretend they don’t know each other).

No matter how you spend the upcoming holiday of romance, there’s plenty to love right here in downtown Edmonds!
